The success of the 2025 Summer Youth Reading Program at the Wimberley Village Library exceeded all expectations. According to Youth Librarian Beth Jordan, the number of children who participated, the abundance of submitted reading logs, the total of recorded reading minutes, and the substantial rise in circulation from the books checked out by participants revealed the extent of the program’s success.
A few standout statistics recorded this year were: 1,352 reading logs submitted by children ages 0 to 12 years of age 325,000 minutes of reading recorded 10,922 youth books checked out between May 22 and August 14 The Wacky Wednesday programs each drew weekly crowds of more than 150 attendees, 540 Camp CommUnity campers visited the library over a period of four weeks for book checkouts, Story Time, and Summer Reading activities The Friends of the Library hosted Library Mini Golf for the third consecutive year, transforming the library into an 18-hole course New programs introduced this summer included: Math Strong and Read Strong for incoming students, grades 1 to 3, to help prevent summer learning loss Math Hub for incoming students, grades 3 to 6, featured mentorships from high school math students Creative and enrichment offerings such as Cooking, Beading, Crochet, Tween Dance, Magical Thinking Dance, Toddler STEM Time, Mommy & Me Yoga, and Fairy Tale Story Time “I continue to be in awe of what the library has become to our community. The outpouring of support from families, volunteers, and donors has been truly inspiring,” said Jordan.
