Did you know that Texas has an official state mushroom? It’s called the Texas Star mushroom and it’s a rare species only found in Texas and Japan. It’s renowned for its distinctive star-shaped appearance and mysterious life cycle.
The Texas Star mushroom is part of a talk, “Mycology 101, All Mushrooms are Magic,” by Andrea Julian. The talk will take place August 27, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Wimberley Village Library. and is part of a Hays County Master Gardeners meeting that meets before the talk, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
The presentation will also include information about community programs that are changing the conversation around fungi and its ecological importance in Texas ecosystems.
