Reintarnation, an acoustic trio based in Wimberley, Texas, is composed of violinist Marian Brackney, guitarist Andrew Hardin and singer-songwriter Jay Sims. All are virtuoso musicians whose music draws from multiple genres and influences. Each brings energy, emotion and masterful musicianship to Reintarnation.
Marian Brackney is a fulltime working violinist and studio musician. She began her musical training at the age of 7 and studied under the world-renowned Violeta Smailovic-Huart and under Dr. Alan Asher at Texas Woman’s University. Marian says, “Music has been central to my life since I was a very young child. I feel as if I have been put on this earth to help people through music. I use my violin as an extension of the light within myself to allow people to experience the light within themselves.”
Andrew Hardin is an exceptional guitarist, sought-after session musician, songwriter, and record producer. Andrew has toured all over North America and Europe. He has played and recorded several solo albums as well as with such artists as Jimmy LaFave, Eliza Gilkyson, John Fullbright, Malcolm Holcombe and Joel Guzman. He teamed up with Jeannie Burns on two albums, Lounge (2012) and Down the Deep Well (2014). Andrew’s guitar style has been influenced by Roy Buchanan, Clarence White, Ry Cooder, Gabby Pahinui and Grady Martin, with shades of blues, rock, R&B, country, tropical and Spanish music.
Jay Sims is a singer, songwriter, road-worn raconteur and record producer. Jay is a native of Lubbock and grew up in Goldthwaite. He played his first paying gig at age 16 and started writing songs shortly afterwards. He has knocked about playing music pretty much all over, including stints in Dallas, Austin, and Luckenbach. In 2009, he was nominated for Male Vocalist of the year by the Texas Music Awards. Sims’ had two well-received albums released in 2008, “So Help Me” and “Half Souls and Heals.” The latter is a blend of country, blues and Americana, described as “solid and satisfying” by George Peden at NutsAboutCountry. com.
As Peden says, “If you’re looking for a pizza-shaped belt buckle and a verandah-sized Stetson, all wrapped in a CMT video, forget it. . . Jay Sims is defiantly and definitely Texas -- the other kind of country music.”
