For those Wimberley residents who have yet to learn that the major construction at the intersection of FM3237 and Winter’s Mill Parkway is the long-anticipated Pickle Y’all indoor pickleball courts.
Began in 2024, the facility is the brainchild of Wimberley residents John and Libby Hagy.
”As avid pickleball players ourselves, we wanted to create an elevated experience for fans of the sport. Not only will we have four air conditioned courts, we wanted to build a facility in keeping with the Wimberley aesthetic that is a dedicated space for serious pickleball players,” said Austin builder John Hagy.
No longer will players have to make sense of confusing line boundaries from shared or converted basketball and tennis courts to play the wildly popular sport designed for people of all ages.
”We made a thorough investigation of pickleball courts in this part of the Hill Country,” John continued. “No longer will players have to contend with the wind of outdoor courts or the music and errant balls coming in from nearby games.”

With 90-minute sessions, instead of the standard 60-minute reservations, Pickle Y’all will allow players to engage in a leisurely game, without seeing up-next teams looking at their watches and waiting for their turn to play.
The facility boasts two 5,600-square-foot indoor court areas with two courts each, an outdoor court, a pro shop and upstairs office accessible by an elevator. The private, indoor courts will be cooled to a friendly 72 degrees and separated by doors, with a small sitting area for non-players and spectators. Each building has indoor restrooms, and a water fountain. The entire complex has 37 parking spaces and is Dark Sky compliant.
Libby, who is a longtime Tennis player, is a big fan of pickleball. “Many retired professional tennis players, like Andre Agassi, have taken up the sport. The hit is lighter because the whiffle-style ball is lighter than a tennis ball and it’s easier on the the joints to deliver and much less impactful if you are hit. Because of the game’s fast pace, it might actually develop hand-eye coordination better than other racquet sports.”
While those aspects of the game are appealing, Libby also likes its social benefits.
“It is an exciting activity you can do with friends and family. You can play competitively or for fun. No matter how it’s played it is always a good time. In our case, our son Jack wasn’t too keen to play until he got on the court and now he’s absolutely hooked. We play every single Sunday and would like to play more than that,” she said.
While not complete, residents will spot a Pickle Y’all banner going up next week. A soft opening is planned for October 4, and the date for a grand opening is in the works.
”After we open, we hope to hold clinics, build leagues and offer events such as fatherson, mother-daughter tournaments and exhibition matches,” Libby said. We’re looking to host DUPR rating sessions in anticipation of organizing ‘Play Your Level nights.’ But really, members can hold all kinds of events here.”
As soon as their website, www.pickle-yall. com, goes live next week, the Hagys will pre-sell memberships with the aim of 100 members. Already there are 25 names on a waiting list.
”We love Wimberley which is why we chose to make this kind of investment here,” said John. “We hope residents will take pride in this new Wimberley asset.
