The Wimberley Valley Arts and Cultural Alliance, or WimberleyArts, the organization behind the 50 Bootiful Wimberley™ boots seen around town, the popular Stars Over Wimberley Concert Series and many other cultural initiatives is turning ten this year. It is also the tenth anniversary of the Wimberley Valley’s important designation as a Texas Cultural District by the Texas Commission on the Arts, which WimberleyArts oversees on behalf of the community.
To celebrate both milestones, WimberleyArts is holding an inaugural gala, the WimberleyArts & Soul Soirée, September 24, at the elegant Videre Estate. With seated dinner and dancing, the soirée promises to be the event of the season with many creative surprises for ticket holders.
As a membership alliance, WimberleyArts has been a program creator, a convener and an arts and cultural ambassador for the Wimberley Valley for the past decade. The organization’s achievements are considerable. In addition to the Stars Over Wimberley and the Bootiful boots pro- grams above, they are the creators of such memorable events as the Wimberley Alive Festivals, several popular Wings Over Wimberley Festivals, multiple Story Fest events, fourth Friday’s Art Crawl and the public art murals seen around town. Looking forward, WimberleyArts plans to take an even more active lead in cultivating the creative life of the community. The board believes that the Wimberley Valley’s identity as a unique creative enclave needs to be protected and nurtured as this area faces the demands of growth in the years ahead.
To accomplish this, they are committed to professionalizing their organization so that, in collaboration with community stakeholders, they can achieve their vision of securing the Wimberley Valley’s identity as an arts and cultural area of significance by developing and managing a new cultural arts center here.
