Twenty-four members of Wimberley’s Hill Country Comets will compete in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation state track meet at Texas A&M University this summer and two of them will be competing in the national AAU Junior Olympic Games in Houston.
Competing in the AAU Junior Olympic Games, July 22 to August 2, are Ryan Lambert in the high jump and triple jump and Rianah Jackson in the shot put.
Competing in the TAAF games at Texas A&M, July 31 to August 3, include Harper Wakem in the 100 meter hurdles; Addi Sisk in the 100 meter hurdles, Kyla Cabiya in the 100 meter hurdles; Rayder Pack in the 300 meter hurdles; Ryan Lambert in the 400 meter dash; Brenna Weger in the 800 meter dash; Camden Marek in the 800 and 1600 meter dash; Abraham Gayosso in the 800 and 1600 meter dash; Rianah Jackson in the shot put and discus; Addi Sisk in the high jump and long jump; Henry Thielman in the long jump and triple jump; Jordan Lambert in the long jump; and Ryan Lambert in the triple jump.
AAU is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that organizes and promotes amateur sports competitions across the U.S for various age groups. The TAAF games are a state-wide competition.
The Hill Country Comets are part of a community club track program, new to Wimberley this year. The program will resume again in September for Fall training. Part of the AAU, athletes must register in advance by going to the AAU website, aausports.org.
