Messina Inn, a boutique hotel and wedding venue on the banks of Cypress Creek, officially opened its new nature trail this month.

More than just a scenic addition, Whitetail Trail was developed to reflect the surrounding ecosystem. The project was guided by the Wimberley Birding Society and regional experts in native trees and flora to ensure the trail would serve as a habitat haven for local bird species and indigenous plants.

“Creating this trail was about more than aesthetics,” said Cherri Maley, General Manager. “It’s our way of inviting guests to slow down and reconnect with nature – whether it’s through birdwatching, a quiet walk or a peaceful moment by the firepit.”

The trail features shaded seating areas, a picnic spot, a firepit to gather around and will soon feature bird houses, baths and feeders, as well as additional native landscaping. The elements were chosen to encourage both wildlife activity and guest interaction with the environment in a quiet, low-impact way.

Messina Inn’s new nature trail is open to guests and visitors alike. Hikers are requested to kindly pick up after themselves. “Keeping the trail clean keeps it open to visitors and is a simple way to be kind to the plants and animals that call it home,” said Maley.

Messina Inn is located at 1000 Cypress Creek Lane, in Wimberley. To learn more go to messinainntx. com.
