Dear Editor:
Am I the only one concerned that after Governor Abbott vetoed SB 1253 for its overreaching impact, that the person in charge is still whining that the Hays groundwater control should be able to dictate all rules and fees as they see fit under the guise the agency knows what’s best for all of us. We all want reasonable oversight not a dictatorial government agency. Two truths emerge from the Flatten comments: (1) Carrie Issac can be assured of a well-funded opponent( s) (I’d expect from both parties) in the next election because she just did not roll over and support this power grab, and (2) if the Hays groundwater board ever gets this authority we (meaning those of us who resist the idea we need controlling) will all regret it.
