As I get older, parts of me should not be displayed in public. The number of parts that should not be displayed seems to grow every year. The problem is, especially in the Texas heat, I like to go swimming.
I am on the look out for the perfect swimsuit. I’ve tried on swimsuits that are supposed to have tummy control. I guess my tummy doesn’t want to be controlled. Then there are swimsuits with skirts. Although they may cover part of your thighs, they also add bulk to your hips. It is not a good look.
I’ve also noticed that many larger sized swimsuits are often made of large patterned and floral prints. I really don’t want large red and purple pansies being displayed on my chubby body. I know there is plenty of room for that print, but that’s the problem. It’s not easy to find a black or dark blue swimsuit for older women. They seem to have plenty of black and dark blue bikinis, though. But I guess there isn’t room for large pansies on bikinis.
As much as I try, I have not been able to find a swimsuit with sleeves. Swimsuit designers need to realize that some of us enjoying going to the beach or pool, but would be more comfortable showing less. I realize there are a few options for me to comfortably enjoy swimming – or getting to the pool. I could wear just about any swimsuit and quickly jump in the water and stay there the rest of the day until everyone has gone. But I can’t imagine how wrinkled I would be at the end of the day. Wrinkled and in a swimsuit would not be a good look.
I do realize that very few people will even notice me. Well, maybe they would if I was wearing a swimsuit with sleeves, covered in large, colorful pansies with a long skirt. I am thinking that my best approach is to wear my beach cover-up, a hat and sunglasses in the pool. Problem solved.
