79th Annual VFW CPRA Rodeo and Saturday Night Dance, 8 p.m. all three nights, at VFW Post 6441, Chester Franklin Arena, 401 Jacobs Well Rd. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Mutton Bustin’ registration at 6 p.m. and first event at 7. Saturday Night Dance, July 5, begins after the rodeo with music from the Whiskey Two-Step band. Last dance 12:30 a.m. Rodeo riders compete in bull riding, bronc riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, women’s breakaway roping, barrel racing and calf scrambles.
Advance tickets June 29 through 30, from 3 to 6 p.m. at VFW Hall.
Adult tickets are $20; children ages 4 to 12 are $10.
Limited box seats are available for $75. At the gate, adult tickets are $25; children ages 4 to 12 are $15.

July 4
Retro-themed Independence Day Parade, 10 a.m., through downtown Wimberley. Called “Blast from the Past,” the parade highlights the 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Floats decorated in a nostalgic style, classic cars, vintage costumes and other mid-century icons will vie for the “Most Creative Float,” the “Most Creative Truck,” the “Most Patriotic,” and the “Best Retro Theme” prizes. Streets close at 9:30 a.m. along FM 2325 starting at Green Acres Rd., and RR 12 through downtown and ending at Blue Heron Run. Parade Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure a good spot along the parade route.
July 4
Free hot dogs, ice water, Karaoke and fun at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church, 956 FM 2325, starting at 11 a.m., following the parade.

Thirteenth Annual Hometown Patriotic Concert, 3 p.m., Wimberley First Baptist Church, 15951 Winters Mill Parkway. The Wimberley Community Chorus and the Hill Country Community Band team up to perform a patriotic concert with such favorite songs as “America the Beautiful,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless America,” and “Stars and Stripes Forever,” along with other rousing selections. The performance includes a video presentation, color guard and a veteran tribute. Free.
July 5
Wimberley Market Day, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Lions Field, with more than 500 booths filled with great stuff, concessions and great people.
July 9
Wagsday Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon, Alexis Pointe Senior Living, 14390 RR 12. WAG puppies and dogs cuddle up to residents.
