State of the Water Luncheon returns June 25

Community members, water leaders and elected officials will gather for the State of the Water Luncheon, hosted by the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by Ozona Bank and the Watershed Association, to speak on groundwater, growth, and conservation in the Hill Country.

Panelists will share insights on aquifer health, regional water planning and legislative updates, including the latest developments of SB 1253 and what it means for local water governance.

As the Wimberley Valley faces intensifying pressures from drought and development, the event offers an essential opportunity to engage with the people and policies shaping the region’s water future. Attendees will hear from David Baker, Executive Director of the Watershed Association and Keynote Speaker; Charlie Flatten, General Manager, Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District; Dr. Robert Mace, Executive Director, The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment; Jenna Walker, Director of Watershed Services, The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment and local leaders Wimberley Mayor Jim Chiles, Wimberley Mayor Pro-Tem Rebecca Minnick, Woodcreek Mayor Jeff Rasco and Hays County Commissioner Morgan Hammer.

The luncheon will take place Wednesday, June 25, at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 RR 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reserved tickets are $25 for chamber members and lunch will be provided by Hays City Store. A question and answer session and raffle prizes will follow.
