Wimberley student receives Exceptional Senior Award

Representative Chip Roy offered his congratulations to 36 stellar high school students across Texas’ 21st congressional district who achieved the Exceptional Senior Award. Of those 36, Jonathan Davenport of Wimberley received the award.

To receive the designation, ESA winners must have “consistently displayed high levels of character, leadership, integrity and diligence. These virtues are evident through their philanthropic activities, academic success, and reputations among peers and teachers.”

Davenport will attend Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in Fall 2025, where he will pursue a business degree.

In a recent press release, Congressman Roy said, “I am proud of all that the incredible young men and women of Texas’ 21st Congressional District have achieved. Texans have reason to be optimistic about our great state’s destiny with them as our future leaders.”

Roy also wrote that he is “deeply grateful to the families of these exceptional seniors for their love and support throughout their educational journeys. He would also like to thank the faculty of schools across his district who recommended these individuals for the ESA.”

The award is in its sixth year of existence.
