A second fox from the Wimberley area has tested positive for rabies. According to the Animal Control Unit of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, the animal fortunately had no known contact with humans or pets.
This is the second time in three weeks that rabies has been confirmed in area wildlife. On May 9 a fox bit a pedestrian in the 500 block of Cypress Creek Lane Residents are encouraged to have their pets vaccinated for rabies and to avoid all contact with wild animals for any reason. If an animal exhibits signs of an illness, contact the Hays County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch at 512-3937896. Report all animal bites to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at 512-393-7800 and ask for Animal Control.
