HCCB to present ‘Barbers, Belters and Boogie’

Wimberley’s Hill Country Community Band will perform a concert of popular movie themes called “Barbers, Belters & Boogie! A Wind Band Blowout” at two local venues on May 31, at 7 p.m. at the Wimberley Valley Winery, 2825 Lone Man Mountain Road in Driftwood, and on June 1, at 4 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center, 14068 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley.

Selections include a medley from “A Chorus Line,” by Marvin Hamlisch and Edward Kleban, relating the emotions and aspirations of 17 dancers auditioning for spots in a chorus line; favorites from “ABBA Gold,” the Swedish pop music group; Tschaikovsky’s “Finale from Symphony in F Minor No. 4”; Paul Hindemith’s “March, from Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber,” and “The Barber of Seville,” Rossini’s most beloved opera.

The HCCB is directed by Dr. Manuel Arambula. Parents are encouraged to bring the entire family. There is no charge to attend.
