The 2025 Fourth Annual Derby Day event proved to be a record year for KWVH, according to General Manager, Tim Kiesling. “It was our best Derby Party yet. Even though the 151st Kentucky Derby horses ran in mud at Churchill Downs, we had picture perfect weather. Everyone was reluctant to leave.”
Two hundred and fifty revelers attended the event decked out in their Derby best to watch as Sovereignty edged past Journalism, the favorite to win.
Guests were delighted to pose for photos with a live thoroughbred, wearing a garland of roses.
“Our success is measured by our army of volunteers. They did a phenomenal job,” said Kiesling.
The event was headed up by volunteer Becky McCullough with Yvonne Thompson, Sue Hutchison, Ann Gilford, Pamela Phillips and Rhonda Manzare.
“Big thanks go to Ozona Bank, our Presenting Sponsor, Wimberley Ace Hardware, Roosters, Newnam Land, the Lind family foundation and Water is Life,” said Kiesling. All proceeds from the Derby Day fundraiser supports KWVH. Next year’s Derby Day is scheduled for May 2, 2026 at the Villa in the Vineyard in Driftwood.
