Roundtable to discuss Stage 5 water restrictions

Wimberley and other parts of Hays County have been in Stage 4 water restrictions since August of 2024. For four years, Jacobs Well has been closed for swimming because of what is essentially a zero water flow. What happens when Stage 5 restrictions are imposed on residents in the effort to manage and conserve water?

A panel discussion, hosted by Wimberley Roundtable, will present “Water: Living in Stage 5,” on May 14, to talk about what could be in store for Wimberley Valley citizens.

Panelists include Hays County Commissioner Walt Smith (R-Pct 4); Linda Kaye Rogers, Hays Trinity Groundwater Conservation District board vice-president; Marshall Jennings, former Assistant Director Edwards Aquifer Research Data Ctr., hydrogeologist and retired Texas State University faculty member; Chris Elliott, a concerned well-owner in Rolling Oaks; and Dan Pickens, former board member of the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District.

The public is encouraged to attend the free event. It takes place 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wimberley United Methodist Church, 1200 CR1492.
