The Texans clinched a share of the District 26 title after splitting their series with the Davenport Wolves to force a three-way tie between Wimberley, Davenport and Navarro.

Wimberley ends the season with a 16-5-1 overall record and a 8-2 district record with losses to Davenport and Navarro. This season, the Texans went the entire year without taking a loss on their home field.

In the first game of the week, the Texans hosted Davenport on Tuesday night.

Wimberley struck first in their first at-bat of the night.

After Bryson Anderson reached first base on a hit by pitch followed by a Jayden Hall double to put runners on second and third with no outs, the Texans scored as Ty Thames grounded out to the shortstop, allowing Anderson to score from third while Jayden Hall moved up a base.

In the next at-bat, Wyatt Yeater scored Jayden Hall on an RBI single to put the Texans up 2-0.

Davenport later tied the game in the top of the third inning. With a runner on second, the Wolves hit a tworun home run, tying the game at 2-2.

But in the fifth inning, the Texans grabbed the lead back. With runners on second and third, Yeatter hit a sacrifice fly deep into center, scoring pinch runner J Whitten at third base, giving Wimberley a 3-2 lead.

Davenport tried to answer in the top of the sixth inning after forcing a one-out walk but the Texans turned the double play as Gentry McGinnis caught the liner before throwing it to Cody Stoever for the two outs and ending the Wolves at-bat.

In the top of the seventh, the Wolves put the game tying run on first following a walk. However, the Texans sat down the next three batters to seal the win at 3-2.

On the mound, Mc-Ginnis and Jayden Hall combined to allow just three hits, one earned run, seven walks and striking out four batters in the win.

In the second game on Friday, the Texans made the trip out to Davenport in the final game of the regular season.

Once again Wimberley struck first in the top of the third inning. Thames connected with an RBI double, putting the Texans up 1-0.

The Wolves tied the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring on a Texans fielding error.

However, the Texans answered back in the next at-bat. Anderson connected with an RBI single in left field to put Wimberley back up 2-1.

Later in the top of the sixth inning, Wimberley scored again. With a runner on first, Sage Hall hit a two-run home run over the fence in left field to put the Texans up 4-1.

Unfortunately for the Texans, the road victory was not meant to be. Davenport scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including hitting a walkoff single to hand Wimberley the loss at 5-4.

The Texans enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed from District 26, dropping into the 4A Division II playoff bracket behind Navarro.

Wimberley heads into the Bi-District championship game in a rematch with district champion Lago Vista. In the first meeting between the two teams, Wimberley defeated Lago Vista 4-3 on the road.

Both the Texans and the Vikings will meet in a three-game series. Game 1 is set to start at 7 p.m. Friday in Wimberley while Game 2 will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lago Vista. If Game 3 is needed, the start time will take place 30 minutes after Game 2.
