The Texans captured the Bi-District championship, beating the Manor New Tech Titans in a three-game series by winning the first two games 16-0 and 10-0.
The victory marks the first time Wimberley has won the Bi-District championship in softball since the 2018 season.
In Game 1, the Texans hosted the Titans on Thursday in Wimberley.
Wimberley struck first in the first inning when Bailey Wright scored on a passed ball, putting the Texans up 1-0. Later in the inning, Ella Patek hit a double into left field before being scored by Emma Lewis on an RBI double, extending the lead to 2-0.
In the second inning, the Texans took advantage of a New Tech fielding, allowing Jewel Lock to score from second, making it a 3-0 lead.
Going into the bottom of the third, the Texan offense exploded. Following a walk from Patek, Reagan Kenley hit an RBI single to score Patek. In the next at-bat, Lewis hit an RBI single of her own to score Kenley and extend the lead to 5-0.
Later in the same at-bat, the Texans had runners on second and third before a New Tech fielding error scored two more runs. Leanna Therrien scored on a wild pitch as the lead was extended to 8-0.
Wright kept the offense rolling with an RBI triple before Patek smacked a two-run home run over the fence in center field to give Wimberley a commanding 11-0 lead.
The Texans added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to close out the game with a 16-0 win.
Pitcher Campbell Woodard threw a onehit shutout for the Texans, allowing just two walks and striking out six batters.
On Friday, the Texans looked to seal the playoff win, going on to New Tech for Game 2.
Once again Wimberley struck the first blow as Kenley hit an RBI single, putting the Texans up 1-0.
Kenley struck again for the Texans in the top of the third, hitting a two-run RBI single, helped by a New Tech fielding error to put Wimberley up 3-0. Lewis brought Kenley home on an RBI double as the lead was extended to 4-0. Lock scored the final run of the inning on a sacrifice bunt as the Texans ended their at-bat up 5-0.
Patek scored again for Wimberley in the top of the fourth inning. With a runner on third base, Patek hit an RBI double, making it a 6-0 game.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Texans pushed the Titans to the brink. Cryar scored the first run of the inning, hitting an RBI single. Next in the at-bat, Emorie Gahan hit an RBI single of her own, extending the lead to 8-0.
Wright ended the atbat with a two-run RBI single to put Wimberley up 10-0.
Woodard ended the game by striking out the side to seal the Texans win. Woodard finished the game throwing another one-hit shutout, allowing five walks and striking out seven batters.
Wimberley advances to the Area round of the playoffs where they will meet up with the Cuero Gobblers.
The Gobblers are the district champions of District 28 and won their Bi-District series against Pearsall, sweeping the Mavericks in a three-game series.
Wimberley and Cuero are set for a threegame series. Game 1 will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night in Wimberley while Game 2 will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Cuero. If Game 3 is needed, first pitch will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Marion.
