CTTX fundraiser, That’s Amore! set for Feb 14, 15

Wimberley’s Central Texas Theatre Academy, the non-profit organization that trains young people aged five to 18 in the theatre arts, is holding its annual fundraiser, “That’s Amore,” on February 14 and 15, at their school in the Plaza Del Sol shopping center, at 12111 RR12, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Talented singers and actors entertain supporters with nostalgic music and comedy during a three-course Italian dinner.

“In 2025, we begin our fifth year helping area children grow and develop through the theatre arts,” said Artistic Director and Principal Teaching Artist Bridget Farias-Gates. “The response from the public for our classes, camps and performances has been exceptional from the very beginning. We’ve seen our students bond with others and learn the skills they need to succeed in life, like self-confidence, empathy, focus, teamwork and creative thinking. Our students gain an appreciation for the arts that stays with them throughout their lives.”

CTTA teaches theatre classes throughout the year and holds well-attended theatre camps during Spring and Summer school breaks. Farias-Gates holds degrees in Acting and Directing from Texas State University and has a long list of achievements to her name, including an 11year tenure as full-time Artistic Director at the EmilyAnn Theatre. She has worked professionally with many area theatres, including the ZACH, Austin Shakespeare, City Theatre and the Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre. In addition to her work at CTTA, she teaches theatre workshops throughout Central Texas.

“We hope the public, whether they are parents, grandparents, educators or theatre lovers, will come out and support this important resource,” said CTTA Board President Karin Cunningham.

Tickets for each night’s performance and dinner are $70 per couple and are available at centextheatre. org.
