Let’s talk trash (in the nicest possible way)

We recently wrote about the Adopt-a-Highway program. A few sections of our roads have recently lost their “adopters” and there has been a slight increase in roadside trash as a result. First, let us thank those individuals who had looked after these sections for a long time. We do appreciate your caring for the roads as long as you did. To help, KWB held a roadside cleanup effort recently. Unlike a few years ago when a hundred people showed up to help, we had fewer this time, but each made a huge difference to the areas they cleaned. Children showed up to cleanup in safe zones like neighborhoods and schools. I hope they continue to participate, as it will fall to them to organize these events one day.

KWB voted at a meeting a few months ago to formally adopt our own section of highway. We submitted our application and it’s been accepted. We shall to able to announce soon which section will be under our care. Our name will be on the sign for everyone, including our visitors, to see. I hope this encourages others to take on a section or think twice about throwing something out the window. Any friends of KWB are always welcome to come help us – we will let you know when.

Following our Great American Cleanup event, I would like to extend thanks to Tim and Nathan (City), John (Lions), Barry (KWB) for all their hard work. We tried to recycle as much as we could, and this was only accomplished because of Al and JP from Custom Rustic Furniture.

What’s next? Constable Precinct 3 and KWB will be hosting the Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, 27th April, from 10am to 2pm at 200 Stillwater, Wimberley (Constable’s Office opposite City Hall). Drop off your unused or expired medications for safe and confidential disposal/incineration with the DEA.
